Call for Residential LEED Regionalization Volunteers

Sunday, July 31, 2011 12:17 PM | Deleted user

Greetings Chapter Members and Friends of USGBCNH:

We would like to invite you to participate in an activity that will affect the LEED green building certification system in a tangible manner.

As you may know, certain credits in the commercial LEED rating systems are prioritized for particular areas, reflecting their importance in addressing the priority environmental issues of each area.  These credits are called Regional Priority credits (RPCs) and debuted in the current commercial rating systems, collectively called LEED 2009.

The current version of LEED for Homes does not feature RPCs, as it was previously developed on a different cycle from the commercial rating systems.  However, all LEED rating systems are now on the same development cycle and will be collectively called LEED 2012.

With this in mind, the future versions of LEED for Homes and LEED for Homes Mid-Rise will feature RPCs.  You are therefore invited to join the New Hampshire Chapter Task Force in identifying priority environmental issues and select RPCs for Homes and Mid-Rise (in addition to the commercial rating systems).  For more information on the process, upcoming timeline, recommended expertise of the volunteers, and other details, please visit usgbc.org/regionalization and review the LEED Regionalization Executive Summary.

If, after reviewing the information, you are interested in participating in any portion of it, please contact Vice Chair John Pietroniro at john.prg@comcast.net and/or complete the volunteer form for LEED Regionalization at usgbc.org/volunteer.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to influence the future of LEED.
